By Alan Haber Pure Pop Radio

Get ready to chow down on some tasty tunes playing during this week’s run of specialty shows on Pure Pop Radio.

Tonight at 9 pm ET, Jammin’ James Riley stirs the pot during his latest sun-drenched hour of summertime fun on Catching a Wave. Keeping the beat are a bevy of bands, including the Pyramids, the Rogues, the Vettes, the Atlantics, the Rozenberries, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and the Beach Boys. Surf’s up!

Tuesday night, January 17 at 8 pm ET, Dana Countryman’s Girlville! New Songs in the Style of Yesterday’s Hits! is the topic of conversation on Pure Pop Radio: In Conversation. Dana visits with me to talk about this fun salute to the girl group sounds of the early 1960s. It’s a rousing hour of talk and top-flight tunes.

Your tasty soup-and-salad lunchtime combo is served at 1 pm this Wednesday, January 18, when Pop 4 and Tiny Volcano’s Scott McPherson dishes a 20-song-strong souffle of songs about food on The Weird and the Wonderful. XTC, 10cc, the Beatles, Hall and Oates, the Replacements, Squeeze, They Might Be Giants, Spinal Tap, the Specials, and Harry Nilsson are on the menu. Chow down!

Thursday night, January 19 at 8 pm ET, our usual gang of Beatles experts–Ken Michaels, Steve Marinucci, Al Sussman and Allan Kozinn–sizzle with a wide-ranging discussion of the best Beatles songs on Things We Said Today. As usual, getting to the heart of the matter is hardly cut-and-dried; you will more than likely be surprised by the panel’s choices.

Delish? You bet. Pure Pop Radio is dishing up a tasty selection of specialty shows this week.
